platonic ideas from the viewpoint of aristotle and vicenna

theory of ideas (muthul) in fact delineates the infrastructure of plato’s philosophy and metaphysics. it can be stated with certainty that by presenting this theory, plato intended to justify the generation of the mundus sensibili in view of its transitoriness and not being assuredly recognizable. encountering this theory, aristotle believes that professing to it would yield illogical results. ...

Hamiltonian paths on Platonic graphs

We develop a combinatorial method to show that the dodecahedron graph has, up to rotation and reflection, a unique Hamiltonian cycle. Platonic graphs with this property are called topologically uniquely Hamiltonian. The same method is used to demonstrate topologically distinct Hamiltonian cycles on the icosahedron graph and to show that a regular graph embeddable on the 2-holed torus is topolog...

Platonic Surfaces

If SO is a Riemann surface with a complete metric of finite area and constant curvature −1, let SC denote the conformal compactification of SO. We show that, under the assumption that the cusps of SO are large, there is a close relationship between the hyperbolic metrics on SO and SC . We use this relationship to show that lim infk→∞ λ1(Pk) ≥ 5/36, where the Platonic surface Pk is the conformal...

6 J ul 2 00 5 RANDOM WALKS ON GRAPHS : IDEAS , TECHNIQUES AND RESULTS

Random walks on graphs are widely used in all sciences to describe a great variety of phenomena where dynamical random processes are affected by topology. In recent years, relevant mathematical results have been obtained in this field, and new ideas have been introduced, which can be fruitfully extended to different areas and disciplines. Here we aim at giving a brief but comprehensive perspect...

Platonic Dynamics

We develop a rigorous theory of observation for dynamical systems in Hilbert spaces. This work generalizes the results of Ott and Yorke [8] for dynamical systems in Rn.
